The membership of Macedonia, like that of every congregation of the A.M.E. Church since its founding, is divided into small organizational groups, called classes. All new or transferring members are assigned to a class after completing their reading-in process. Each class is headed by a class leader, who is appointed by the Pastor and trained in the history, structure, and disciplines of the A.M.E. Church. Class leaders report directly to the Assistant Pastor.
The Class Leaders Council help the pastor and assistant pastor to remain aware of the “pulse” of Macedonia’s congregation. Since, they serve as mini-pastors for their classes, they must also have a strong calling to love and serve others. Class leaders call and listen to their members’ church- or faith-related questions and address their spiritual concerns before they become spiritual challenges. Likewise, they visit and pray with the sick, shut-in, and bereaved.
