Macedonia AME Church Leadership

Macedonia AME Church is blessed to have a leadership team who recognizes the authority of GOD as they serve under the direction of Christ Jesus. They are truly dedicated to Christ and accomplishing His will. Their passion and goal is to equip believers for the work of ministry. Following are brief bio's of our leadership team and their qualifications for ministry.

Reverend Derrell Wade

Pastor

Reverend Wade has a passion for carefully unpacking the truths of scripture. He was educated in the Columbia, South Carolina public school system. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration (Economics) from the University of South Carolina. He also earned the Masters of Business Administration and Masters of Business Management degrees from Webster University, St. Louis Missouri. Reverend Wade earned the Master of Divinity degree from Howard University School of Divinity, Washington, D.C.

Reverend Wade answered his call to the ministry during October 1994 and was ordained an Itinerant Elder on April 29 2000 in the Washington Annual Conference of the A.M.E. Church. He is the founding Pastor, Saint Luke AME Church, Reston, Virginia. He has served as pastor of New Birth AME, Rockville, Maryland and Beulah AME Church, Farmville, Virginia.

As the very proud pastor of Macedonia AME Church, Suffolk, Virginia, Reverend Wade envisions a team based, multi-faceted teaching and service ministry equipping its membership to become Disciples of Christ while meeting the needs of the local congregation and community at large. He sees the Church’s mission as meeting the spiritual, physical, educational, economic and social needs of the church membership and serving the community through the development and implementation of effective ministries. He has served at Macedonia A.M.E. Church for the past eight years.

Reverends Derrell and Carolyn have been married for over 45 loving years. They have two daughters, Deidre Light (John) and Carolyn Lang (Rickey). They are blessed with two darling granddaughters (Alexandra and Christina) and wonderful twin grandsons (Joshua and Jeremiah).

"And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in weakness'. Therefore, most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me." (2 Corinthians 12:9 NKJV)

Reverend Carolyn Wade

Associate Pastor

Reverend Carolyn Wade is the daughter of the late William Golston, Jr. and Carrie Brooks Golston Henderson. She traveled with her family during her early years residing in Fort Hood, Texas, Seattle, Washington and Oahu, Hawaii. While in Hawaii she gave her life to Christ and committed herself to becoming a missionary for Christ.

Reverend Carolyn, is an Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church. She earned the Master of Divinity Degree from Regent University School of Divinity and was ordained an Itinerant Elder in the Washington Annual Conference, the Second Episcopal District in April 2008. Reverend Carolyn also holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from the University of South Carolina and an Associate Degree from Northern Virginia Community College in Legal Assisting.

Reverend Carolyn serves as the Associate Pastor and First Lady at Macedonia AME Church, Suffolk, Virginia under the leadership of Reverend Derrell E. Wade. She also serves as Coordinator for the Women's Ministry and Minister to the Class Leaders Council. Reverend Carolyn enjoys counseling, mentoring and sharing the Word of God.

Reverend Carolyn loves the Lord and it is her desire to honor Him in every aspect of her life. She believes that all things work together for good to those who love God and to those who are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28). Reverend Carolyn has no doubt that her purpose is to help people grow in the knowledge of God through His Son Jesus the Christ. She is convinced that as long as she remains faithful and trusts God, He will keep her in perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3-4) and direct her path. "To God be the glory for who He is in my life and for all He has done for me!"

Reverend Percy Watford

Associate Minister

Reverend Watford was ordained an Elder in the Christian Church. He later joined Macedonia AME Church to unite with his family. He was ordained a Local Deacon for Macedonia AME Church by the Virginia Annual Conference. He serves as an advisor to the Men's Ministry (Sons of Allen), serves on the Commission on Membership, Evangelism and Discipleship and coordinates hospital and nursing home visits.

Sister Pamela Jones-Watford

Licentuate / Youth Choir Director

Sister Jones-Watford is a licentiate in the Board of Examiners for the Virginia Annual Conference and is expected to be ordained an Itinerant Deacon during 2020. She serves as the Church School Superintendent and Youth Choir Director.

Sister Peggy Scott

Church Clerk

Maintains the official copy of minutes, to include complete copies of all reports, documents and financial statements, and action items. Manages the correspondence between the individuals seeking transfers and the churches with which the transfer is being made.

Sister Anna Hornsby

Vice Chairperson Board of Stewards

Assists the pastor in any way possible with the spiritual concerns of the church. This can include but is not limited to preparing for board meetings or communicating new policies to the Board of Stewards. If any problems occur among board members, it is often the role of the vice chairperson to discover the facts of the situation and report back to the pastor. In addition, the vice chairman fills in for the pastor if he is unable to attend or carry out his duties.

Brother Ulyssis Holomon

In addition, the vice chairperson fills in for the pastor if he is unable to attend or carry out his duties.

Sister Mary Becker

Minister of Music

The Bible has a lot to say about music. Sister Becker’s role is to lead the church’s worship of GOD in a way that matches the character of GOD. She is an accomplished musician who has ministered with numerous church choirs. She is eager to share her gifts with the church.
